Ten years into it, and driving sideways continues to exponentially seize fans that demand more than just left turns for their motorsport dollars. 2103 marks the end of the first highly successful decade for the Formula Drift series, and devotees can't get enough of the fevered competition, the literally smoking hot cars with tires beguilingly pleading for traction, and the invariable public teasing with imminent pandemonium.

It's undeniable that drifting and series' like Formula Drift have had an enormous impact on the global car culture, and along the exceedingly sharp leading edge cutting into the next decade is one of the founding drivers, Chris Forsberg. Forsberg added a third place podium finish to his collection last weekend at Formula Drift oRound 6: Showdown. Texas Motor Speedway hosted the highly anticipated event under the night sky. It was the first time since 2005 that the Formula Drift series has competed in the Lone Star state. And the new track lived up to the hype as one of the fastest drift tracks on the circuit, and one of the most technically demanding for tandem drifting.

The consolation round saw Patrick Mordaunt in his Lexus SC430, pitted against point leader Forsberg, in his AEM supported NOS Energy Drink/Hankook tire Nissan 370Z. Forsberg won the battle for third place, but he dropped to second place overall in the Pro Championship standings, with only 15.5 points separating him from the leader heading into the final round. The podium finish in Texas was his third in a row and his fourth overall for the 2013 season.

"I am so happy to have earned another podium finish!" Forsberg remarked. "The team was flawless and the car ran perfect all weekend. I cannot wait to see what happens at the Irwindale Speedway!"

Forsberg came to Texas hot, having just won round 5 up in the Great Northwest. His consistently hard charging attack at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington dominated the field and enthralled the rabid Seattle area fans.

"The win could not have been achieved without the hard work and persistence of the Chris Forsberg Racing crew," said Forsberg after his win at Evergreen. "This is Brian Wilkerson and Ray Shake's first win in Formula Drift and it's much deserved. In less than two years since their debut in professional drifting, they have built one of the best cars in an ultra-competitive field."

The addition of chassis engineer, Scott Davidson as Forsberg's spotter, and the crew's eye in the sky, has made it possible for Forsberg to have what he says is "absolutely the best car I have ever driven."

"I would say that the Seattle event was the highlight of our 2013 season. We have been very successful at that track and knew that we had a good chance to take home the win," added Forsberg. "Following through with that gave the team and me a boost in confidence for the rest of the year."

Heading into the final round, Forsberg also draws increasing self-belief from his crew, which can't be discounted.

"It is very important to know that your car is 100%. So much of the event revolves around the car's performance and the team's ability to keep it on track and consistent. Having that peace of mind can give a driver a great advantage."

Irwindale Speedway, the "House of Drift" in Irwindale, California is the legendary venue that gave drifting its roots in the states. The infamous course, which utilizes part of the short oval track and many inside turns, is the home track for most of the drivers, creating the ultimate setting for intense battles to earn the right to wear the coveted crown as Formula Drift Champion.

The Chris Forsberg Racing crew is a pumped-up and prepared to leave their mark on the 2013 FD season in a big way.

"I am feeling very confident that we can dissect the track and find the line faster than most of the teams," says Forsberg.
