AEM Induction Systems with AEM Electronics built a 2015 Mustang to illustrate its tuner heritage with the new 2.3L Ford EcoBoost Turbo motor. AEM started by creating a Cold Air Intake System for the inline 4 cylinder 2.3L engine that showed an estimated 12 hp gain at 4,500 RPM. The AEM Intake features a couple of unique design elements with a purpose built mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube and a unique oval Dryflow® clamp-on air filter. AEM Induction Systems further improved performance with a mandrel-bent and powder coated aluminum charge pipe for improved airflow to and from the turbo. After the AEM Induction Systems upgrades, AEM Electronics took the build to another level.

AEM Electronics dove right into the build by adding a Water/Methanol Injection kit to the AEM CAI that bolts up using incorporated inlets, with no drilling required. AEM Electronics also added its all new X-Series Digital Gauges, which will debut with the Mustang at the 2015 SEMA Show. This includes the new X-Series Wideband UEGO AFR Controller Gauge featuring X-Digital technology, and various pressure and temperature monitoring gauges.

MagnaFlow Exhaust further increased horsepower of the AEM EcoBoost Mustang build with a complete cat-back stainless steel exhaust system that perfectly complements the AEM Cold Air Intake System. The MagnaFlow exhaust system is more aesthetically pleasing with its larger tips to help magnify the growl of the EcoBoost engine during acceleration.

Eibach suspension helped enhance the stance and driving performance of the AEM EcoBoost Mustang with the very same technology used Formula 1 cars. Eibach's PRO-STREET-S, stainless steel bodied coil-over spring & damper packages let serious drivers quickly adjust the ride height of each individual Liquid Metal SOT Wheel. The Eibach ERS Racing Springs and ERD Racing Dampers are used in top-level racing series all over the world. Eibach has used its experience gained from many decades at the highest levels of International Motorsport to put these technological masterpieces into the hands of performance enthusiasts everywhere.

Falken Tires and Liquid Metal wheels took care of each corner of the Mustang. Liquid Metal Wheels created custom one-off wheels for the AEM EcoBoost Mustang based off the Liquid Metal Wheels multi-spoke SOT Wheel design. Liquid Metal applied a custom matte metallic charcoal grey finish with a red stripe behind the multi spoke SOT wheel design to match the performance theme of the AEM EcoBoost Mustang.

Falken Tires wrapped all four Liquid Metal SOT Wheels with their flag ship summer performance tire, the Azenis FK453, which was a perfect match for the staggered wheel fitment. Falken set up the AEM EcoBoost Mustang with 245/35R20 tires in the front with aggressive 275/35R20 tires in the rear. The Falken Azenis FK453 features the latest developments in noise-absorption technology to help provide a quiet and comfortable ride. A silica enriched compound is utilized for confident dry and wet performance. Rated with W, Y, and (Y) speed ratings, this tire is composed of nylon-reinforced layers allowing for enhanced high-speed stability.

Mothers Polish is keeping the AEM EcoBoost Mustang clean with its Waterless Wash and Wax. The Mothers Waterless Wash and Wax is exactly what the AEM EcoBoost Mustang will need to take care of the Satin Bitter Yellow 3M wrap 1080 film series. The two tone color scheme pays homage to American muscle while embracing AEM’s tuner heritage with the very unique Satin Bitter Yellow 3M wrap.

For more info and complete build details, visit the AEM Induction Systems 2015 SEMA Show booth # 24213 on Wednesday morning November 4, 2015 at 10 am for the official unveiling followed by an autograph session with two-time Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg.

How to Increase Horsepower with Air Intakes from AEM Induction Systems

1988-1991 Honda CRX Civic
AEM cold air intake kit 21-400P was offered for sale in 1994 as an easy way how to increase horsepower of 1988-1991 Honda CRX Civic models and began a new tradition

AEM Induction Systems has been designing and selling cold air intake systems as an easy way to increase horsepower since 1994. AEM, was embedded in the import tuner market from the very beginning and its first cold air intake was offered for sale in 1994 as a Do-It-Yourself upgrade for the Honda CRX and proved to be the beginning of a whole new tradition. Increasing horsepower and torque on early fuel injected vehicles was easier than it is today. With the evolution of modern cars AEM has had to also evolve with creative CAI designs. Although times have changed, the same principles of how to increase horsepower apply.

A traditional AEM cold air intake (CAI) positions the AEM Dryflow air filter inside of a wheel well, behind a headlight, or in front of the radiator as a way how to increase horsepower

The goal of an aftermarket air intake system, whether it’s an AEM short ram air intake or an AEM cold air intake, is to increase power by reducing air intake restriction and turbulence. An aftermarket air intake system typically uses a larger diameter air intake tube than what comes from the factory. Larger diameter air intake tubing with smooth inner walls is capable of delivering a greater volume of air with less turbulence. When larger diameter tubing is matched with a performance air filter, such as an AEM Dryflow filter, the end result is an increase in power, improved performance, and better engine sound.

AEM Induction Systems will use alternative cold air intake designs
AEM Induction Systems will use alternative CAI designs such as an enclosed air box, additional fresh air sources, or even a hood scoop in an effort how to increase horsepower

Ideally AEM will design a cold air intake, CAI for short, to relocate the air filter outside of the engine compartment. The traditional cold air intake positions the air filter inside of a wheel well, behind a headlight, or in front of the radiator to provide cooler air, while still remaining relatively protected. Modern cars and trucks are becoming increasingly technical in an effort to squeeze power, fuel efficiency, and low emissions from every drop of gasoline or diesel fuel. This has required AEM engineers to continually stay at the forefront of AEM CAI development.

While a traditional cold air intake isn’t suitable for every vehicle, AEM still believes that maintaining inlet air temperature (IAT) at or near ambient air temperature is a crucial way how to increase horsepower. This has led AEM Induction Systems to utilize alternative CAI designs such as enclosed air box designs, additional fresh air sources, or even a hood scoop in an effort how to increase horsepower, safely, and consistently. In testing air intake designs, it has been noticed that some vehicles will benefit more from an AEM short ram intake design. Engines designed for peak power near redline often benefit more from the installation of an AEM short ram air intake.

AEM engineers design intake systems as a fully integrated component of the vehicle. Significant testing is performed to assure that an AEM air intake is an easy way how to increase horsepower safely, and consistently. AEM air intake owners can feel confident knowing that their AEM CAI or short ram intake system is designed to improve performance reliably and in a usable RPM range. AEM cold air intake systems are made in the U.S.A and backed with a lifetime limited warranty giving further assurance that AEM is confident in its products.

For nearly fifteen years John Pangilinan, or JP for short, has been serious about custom vehicles and entering them into car shows. His background in the world of automotive aftermarket performance, action sports, photography, and design all contribute to his unique approach to vehicle customization. JP was approached by Hyundai Motor America in 2014 to build a custom 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport 2.0T for the Hyundai 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show booth.

The JP Edition 2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T had been upgraded with an air intake kit from AEM Induction Systems. Of the AEM air intake, Pangilinan said “You can’t match the performance and sound of AEM. It’s the little touches that add to the overall feel.” Jump forward a year and John is once again heading to the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show with a unique, and of course AEM equipped, 2016 Hyundai Tucson for the Hyundai 2015 SEMA Show booth.

John Pangilinan released details on his 2016 Tucson SEMA build. Dubbed the “Adventuremobile,” this vehicle blends Hyundai’s new crossover platform with a passion for the great outdoors making it perfect for a weekend getaway. Hyundai Motor America’s press release described the Adventuremobile as at home on the daily commute or lugging gear up into the mountains for a weekend out of town. “Designed with the weekend adventurer in mind, the Tucson was the perfect platform for an ‘Adventuremobile,’” said John Pangilinan. “The build blends performance with the excitement of the great outdoors, without sacrificing daily usability. The vehicle promotes exploration, making it ideal for the daily commute, weekend excursions, and the occasional road trip.”

Probably the most obvious adventure addition is a Treeline Tamarack roof-top tent, with ample room to sleep two campers, and Goal Zero solar panels to power all of their accessories. Additionally, the exterior has been beefed up with an Aries bull bar and side steps, Rigid Industries LED lights, and a BASF army green paint scheme by Strasse Sport. A custom 1.5” suspension lift provides increased ground clearance, and Toyo Open Country A/T II tires with RAYS Gram Lights 57DR wheels provide the extra grip needed for the occasional off-road excursion.

JP looked to AEM to give the 2016 SEMA Show Hyundai Tucson Adventuremobile a power boost with an AEM upgraded air intake system and charge pipe kit. The engine inhales with an AEM Dryflow® air filter and exhales more freely through a Magnaflow exhaust system. The JP Edition 2016 Hyundai Tucson Adventuremobile will be revealed at Hyundai’s SEMA press conference on November 3, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. PT, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fresh AEM Snapback Flat Bill Hat For Repping Your Favorite Cold Air Intakes Brand

Snapback is urban speak for an adjustable flat bill baseball cap. A snapback is not to be confused with the Smoky and the Bandit era mesh trucker cap that made a comeback in the early 2000's. In fact, several hip-hop artists brought the snapback back and influenced the hip-hop culture that surrounds them.

AEM Induction Systems has no direct connections with the hip-hop industry. But there are strong ties between riding around in nice whips and a bumpin sound system; kind of like Snapbacks and Tattoos. So when you're team fails to make the playoffs, or chilling in Oakland, California, start representing your favorite cold air intakes brand instead.

The flat billed black AEM snapback hat, part# 01-1404, has a 3D AEM Induction Systems logo stitched on the front in white, black and yellow, black and yellow. The under bill color is yellow with the AEM logo screen printed diagonally. Like all good snapbacks, this AEM flat bill can be adjusted to fit all but the Big Heads.

Order this one-size fits most AEM Snapback Flat Bill on AEMIntakes.com. Rep your favorite cold air intake brand even with the hood closed or away from your car. This hat will have you stylin' at your next meet and won't empty your wallet of dead presidents.

2015 Chevy Colorado & GMC Canyon 2.5L L4 Bolts On More Power With AEM CAI

The standard engine for the 2015 Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon is a 2.5L Ecotec inline four cylinder engine which first debuted in the 2013 Chevy Malibu and the Cadillac ATS

The standard engine for the 2015 Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon is a 2.5L Ecotec inline four cylinder engine which first debuted in the 2013 Chevy Malibu and the Cadillac ATS

The Chevrolet Colorado and its mechanical twin the GMC Canyon were introduced in 2004 as a replacement for the outdated Chevy S-10 and GMC Sonoma pickup trucks. Many factors led to a slump in mid-size pickup sales for all the major auto manufacturers which lead Chevy, Ford, and Dodge to pull out of the mid-size truck market. After a three-year absence from the United States the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon were reintroduced for the 2015 model year and are the first all-new mid-size pickup truck of any auto manufacturer in over a decade.

AEM Intake 21-8035DC for 2015 Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon 2.5L pickups replaces restrictive factory components with performance engineered parts to increase power

The standard engine for the 2015 Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon is a 2.5L Ecotec inline four cylinder engine which first debuted in the 2013 Chevy Malibu and the Cadillac ATS. The 2.5L Ecotec engine features direct injection, variable valve timing and dual overhead camshafts (DOHC). This technology results in a rated 200 horsepower, and 191 lb-ft of torque from the factory. The Colorado and Canyon’s 2.5L base engine is a far cry from the underpowered inline fours of yesteryear and still earned an EPA estimated 27 highway MPG.

One look under the hood of a 2015 Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon 2.5L and AEM engineers knew that increased performance was just a simple bolt-on AEM cold air intake away. An AEM intake replaces the restrictive factory air intake ducting, sound resonator chamber, and the enclosed air filter box with new components from AEM. An AEM cold air intake system utilizes a free-flowing mandrel bent aluminum AEM air intake tube and a large open element reusable AEM Dryflow® air filter to minimize restriction, straighten airflow, and increase the amount of airflow available to the engine. More air and less restriction means more usable power throughout the engine’s RPM range by reducing the amount of energy spent on drawing air into the engine.

An additional feature of the AEM cold air intake system for 2015 Chevy Colorado 2.5L or 2015 GMC Canyon 2.5L pickups is an application specific AEM embossed air filter heat shield. The 2015 Colorado and Canyon AEM air filter heat shield is designed to mount on the lower half of the factory air filter box. This has the advantage of reusing the factory cold air inlet, while also protecting the AEM Dryflow air filter from splashes of mud, water, and of course engine heat. All of these design features are engineered, and tested, to work together as an easy to install bolt-on performance upgrade for 2015 Chevy Colorado 2.5L or 2015 GMC Canyon 2.5L trucks.
