AEM Dryflow clamp-on air filter 21-2258DK has an oval shaped base measuring 10.5” long by 8” wide. The 8” tall filter is tapered at the top end which measures 7.75” long by 5” high. The VA series 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX is quite a departure from previous generation WRX models. The Impreza name has been dropped completely in all markets and the WRX body has taken on a more unique look than the standard Impreza model. Most significantly changed from the outgoing 2014 WRX is the all-new 2.0L FA20DIT direct injection boxer engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger. The VA series 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX is the first WRX to move away from the EJ-series engine. Drivability of the WRX has been improved because the 2.0L FA20DIT makes peak torque numbers twice as soon as the 2.5L EJ engine. Also worth noting is that the smaller 2.0L FA20DIT engine makes slightly more horsepower than the 2.5 EJ. New for the 2015 and 2016 WRX is a standard 6-speed manual transmission previously only available in WRX STi models. The combination of the new 2.0L FA series engine, and the six-speed manual transmission, provides the 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX owner with a much different driving experience than the car it replaces.

Subaru has given its flagship model, the WRX STi, a near complete redesign for the 2015 and 2016 model year. The 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX STi, can’t be called all new because one thing hasn’t changed, namely the EJ257 intercooled and turbocharged 2.5L H4 boxer engine. AEM intakes has once again stepped up to the plate with cold air intake (CAI) 21-735WB, and produced an amazing estimated 32 horsepower maximum increase at the wheels of an otherwise stock 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX STi. Dyno testing on the 21-735WB cold air intake was performed to back our substantial claims of increased horsepower. AEM dyno tests prove that this CAI produced an estimated maximum gain of 32 horsepower @ 5400 RPM and an estimated increased in torque of 31 lb-ft @ 5400 RPM.

The AEM cold air intake design for the 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX STi positions the AEM Dryflow Air Filter in a location near the front of the car to help pull fresh air from outside the engine compartment. Bringing in cooler outside air can result in more power. The AEM synthetic Dryflow air filter is designed for low restriction without compromising engine protection.
