The Jeep Liberty KJ was introduced in 2001 as a replacement for the outgoing Jeep Cherokee XJ platform. Outside of North America the Jeep Liberty KJ is known as a Jeep Cherokee KJ. Oddly enough, production of the Jeep Liberty KK ended in 2012 and was replaced by the Jeep Cherokee KL crossover SUV. To make things more confusing, Jeep has produced the Grand Cherokee model since 1993. The third generation Jeep Grand Cherokee WK shared its platform with the Jeep Commander XK which was a throwback to the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

Owners of 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK models, 2006-2010 Jeep Commander XK models, and 2001-2007 Jeep Liberty KJ models have a performance air filter option from the experts in cold air intakes, AEM. The 28-20233 AEM Dryflow reusable air filter is precision-engineered to be a direct air filter cross reference for the disposable factory air filter and fit inside the stock air filter box. AEM filters are constructed using a durable urethane sealing lip to help ensure a positive, air-tight seal in the factory air filter box. Advanced Dryflow, non-woven, oil free, synthetic air filter media is at the heart of the 28-20233 replacement AEM air filter which allows for easy cleaning, durable service, and excellent filtration without the need for air filter oil.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee WK was also offered with a high-output 6.1-liter V8 engine and suspension tuned by the SRT performance automobile group within the Chrysler Corporation

While the 28-20233 AEM filter is designed to increase horsepower and acceleration, use of synthetic air filter media means it’s also a washable and reusable air filter so it never needs to be replaced. When it does come time to service the filter, cleaning can be easily completed using the AEM air filter cleaner 1-1000. Cleaning is performed by following a simple four step process and the AEM dry filter does not require oil. No oil means the filter can be returned to service sooner and with less effort.

The 28-20233 reusable AEM Dryflow air filter is an easy to install replacement filter that is engineered to provide a performance upgrade and save you time and money on maintenance costs. AEM backs the filter with a Lifetime Limited Warranty so it really is the last air filter you’ll need to purchase for your 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK, 2006-2010 Jeep Commander XK, and 2001-2007 Jeep Liberty KJ with L4, V6, or V8 engines.

By simply replacing your disposable factory air filter for AEM 28-20233, 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK, & 2006-2010 Commander XK, as well as 2001-2007 Jeep Liberty KJ vehicles can receive a lifetime of performance and engine protection. Power Products Unlimited Jeep Wrangler JK to be in AEM Intakes SEMA Show Booth

When Mike Kim, Off-road Suspension Engineer for Off-road Power Products, purchased his Jeep JK Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon earlier this year he set out to design a reliable off-road suspension package for the Wrangler JK while keeping the price attainable for the average consumer. Mike’s goal for the Off-road Power Products (OPP) designed Jeep Wrangler JK suspension system was to reliably run 37” tires while keeping the Jeep as low as possible.

The ability to use 37” off-road tires on a Jeep Wrangler JK usually means the owner would need to install a 3.5” lift kit at a minimum. Mike said “This makes the rig top heavy and uncomfortable to side hill in.” Wanting to reduce the chances of a roll-over in his Jeep Wrangler JK Mike Kim designed a proprietary 2.5” lift kit with custom wound Eibach coil springs. The OPP kit moves the shock mounts to fit 11” travel shocks at all four corners.

While Mike was at it, he installed ARB air lockers and cromoly axle shafts. The underside of the Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited is almost completely flat thanks to the under belly skid plate system and other body armor pieces Mike installed. Of his Jeep, Mike said “OPP is different from a lot of companies because we actually use our marketing vehicles. We’re not afraid to get scratches and dings on the trail. It gives them character.”

Mike Kim looked to AEM for Jeep Wrangler JK cold air intake system, number 21-8316DS, because the sealed air filter box keeps out heat, mud, and water when off-roading

Because turning 37” tires is no easy task, Mike Kim looked to AEM for a Jeep Wrangler JK cold air intake system. Mike Kim has known of AEM since the late 1990’s. “Back then AEM was mostly a tuner car company but it has always been regarded as a high quality manufacturer. When AEM asked if my Jeep would be available for SEMA I was happy to say yes,” said Kim. Mike installed AEM cold air intake 21-8316DS on his Jeep Wrangler JK and says “I’ve been happy with the system on my Jeep as it’s sealed to keep the hot engine air out, but also because it helps protect the filter from mud and water.”

Subaru WRX Powered Factory Five 818R Kit Car to Be AEM Intakes SEMA Show Booth Car

The AEM Intakes Factory Five 818R built by Six Star Cars will be featured in the AEM SEMA booth with hopes that Keith Pizio will be invited to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational
The AEM Intakes Factory Five 818R built by Six Star Cars will be featured in the AEM SEMA booth with hopes that Keith Pizio will be invited to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational
Factory Five Racing is a Massachusetts based company started in 1995 by a group of car guys who eat, sleep, and dream about cars. They design, build, and sell kit cars with their newest kit offered being the 818R race and 818S street models. The kit was named 818 because the designer wanted the assembled car to weigh in at 818 kilograms, or roughly 1,800 pounds. The owner of Factory Five Racing took a drive in a Subaru and was impressed by its power, ease of modification, and availability of donor cars. This led Factory Five to design the 818R and 818S around a Subaru WRX platform.
The 818 kit car uses as much of a 2002-2007 Subaru Impreza WRX platform as possible without compromising the simple, lightweight, and affordable design from Factory Five Racing

Keith Pizio and his partner Todd Briley own Six Star Cars in Greeley, Colorado about an hour north of Denver, Colorado. Six Star Cars is dedicated to providing the best running and best handling turn-key 818 kit cars on the market. The duo has spent the last nine years building and racing Subaru cars, which made building turn-key 818 kit cars a natural progression for a couple guys who have dominated the local SCCA Solo and RallyCross racing scene.

Keith grew up building and competing in the sport compact tuner market. One of Keith’s first cars was a 1988 EF Honda Civic Hatch Back which was certainly a catalyst for his passion about AEM. Keith said “I’ve always been a fan of AEM and their products. I’ve been in the sport compact scene for 18 years now and I’ve seen lots of companies come and go, but not AEM. The first modification almost everyone does is an intake and you can’t get that kind of bang for your buck anywhere else.”
The Factory Five 818R and 818S takes the front-engine all-wheel-drive platform from a donor Subaru WRX and transplants it into a light weight mid-engine rear-wheel-drive roadster

As a long time AEM fan, Keith was thrilled when AEM asked him to bring his Factory Five 818R to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, Nevada. “My relationship with AEM started last year at SEMA,” said Pizio. “A good friend of mine put me in touch with AEM and things exploded from there.” AEM took interest in the 818R being built by Six Star Cars because it is a brand new platform using a proven Subaru WRX drivetrain. The donor 2002-2007 Subaru WRX platform has a huge aftermarket following and modifications are only limited by budget.

Keith Pizio and Todd Briley have had a lot of success building and racing Subaru cars and plan to race the Six Star Cars built Factory Five Racing 818R for the 2015 race season and beyond
Keith Pizio and Todd Briley have had a lot of success building and racing Subaru cars and plan to race the Six Star Cars built Factory Five Racing 818R for the 2015 race season and beyond
After the 2014 SEMA show Keith plans to use the AEM sponsored 818R as a dedicated race car for the 2015 season and beyond. In Colorado even the 818R race version of the kit car can be made street legal. This will allow Keith to compete in street classes including the One Lap of America event, the Gambler’s Edge Hill Climb, as well as SCCA Solo Events and NASA Time Trials.

The AEM sponsored 818R is scheduled to make its debut at the 2014 SEMA show to be held November 4th through the 7th at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 818R will be the featured vehicle in the AEM Intakes trade show booth located in the Performance Hall. Be sure to follow the progress of the Six Star Cars built Factory Five Racing 818R on AEMIntakes.com as the build nears completion. The final reveal is set to be during the 2014 SEMA show.

AEM Offers Performance Cold Air Intakes for 4th Gen to 9th Gen Honda Civic Si

AEM cold air intake number 21-400P was the first Honda Civic Air Intake offered by AEM intakes and set the standard for which cold air intakes are judged today

The Honda Civic Si is the optional sport compact trim level introduced in 1984 for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) third generation Honda Civic. The U.S. Domestic Market (USDM) was rewarded with the Civic CRX Si in 1985. The Honda Civic Si trim level, short for Sport Injected, is typically outfitted with a performance suspension package, slightly different aesthetics including Si badging, a manual transmission, and a high output engine when compared to the other Honda Civic trim levels.

The Fourth Generation EF Honda Civic CRX Si was powered by the D16A6 but was commonly swapped for a JDM Civic Type-R or Acura Integra GS-R B-Series engine

Advanced Engine Management, more commonly referred to as AEM, was embedded in the import tuner market from the very beginning. AEM’s presence in the tuner movement and its proximity to Nissan, TRD and Honda allowed AEM a unique opportunity. By living side by side with racers and working with OES engineers, AEM was able to understand both the practical and theoretical side of engine performance. This combination of street experience and technical savvy resulted in the birth of packaged Cold Air Induction Kits. AEM cold air intake kit 21-400P was offered for sale in 1994 as a Do-It-Yourself upgrade for the Honda CRX and proved to be the beginning of a whole new tradition.

1988 to 1991 Fourth Generation EF Honda Civic Air Intake options for Civic Si and CRX Si:

AEM Cold Air Intakes have their roots in the 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991 fourth gen EF Honda Civic Si and CRX Si. The first AEM CAI developed was number 21-400P for the D16A6 powered Civic Si. This AEM cold air intake is available with three color options for the air intake tubes. Number 21-400P features a polished finish, 21-400C is powder-coated in a charcoal gray, and 21-400R is protected with candy red color powder-coating.

The 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995 EG Honda Civic Si was only available in the USDM as a Civic Hatch back model and came with a D16Z6 SOHC VTEC inline four-cylinder engine

The JDM EF Honda Civic Si was powered by a more powerful B-series engine than the USDM Civic Si and CRX Si. This created a trend in swapping out USDM D-series engines with a JDM B-series power plant. To accommodate these engine swaps AEM created a direct-fit Honda Civic Air Intake for Honda and Acura models. 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991 fourth gen EF Honda Civic owners who have swapped a B18C5 (Type R) & B16A engine should choose CAI part number 21-5001C. 1988-1991 EF Civic owners can install 21-5002C if the stock D16 has been swapped for a B18C1(GS-R /SiR-G) B-series engine. These intake systems will bolt up to a stock B-series engine with common tools and also work well with high-output B-series engines.

1992 to 1995 Fifth Generation EG Honda Civic Air Intake options for Civic Si:

The fifth gen EG Honda Civic Si saw the introduction of the famous Honda VTEC technology and was powered by the D16Z6 SOHC VTEC engine. Building off of the reputation gained in tuning 1988-1991 Honda Civic Si models, AEM released similar AEM Honda Civic air intake options for the 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995 Honda Civic. AEM cold air intakes, numbers 21-401B, 21-401C, 21-401P, and 21-401R are once again available with multiple color options. An AEM short ram intake is available as numbers 22-401B, 22-401P, and 22-401R. Different for the EG though, is the option for an AEM dual chamber Honda Civic air intake system. The dual chamber EG Honda Civic Air Intake, number 24-6004C, takes advantage of a patented design which utilizes two different diameters and lengths of piping to create multiple frequency sounds waves. The theory behind the dual chamber design is that multiple frequency sound waves help charge the cylinders with more air helping to make more power. These Honda Civic Air Intake systems will also fit applicable Honda Del Sol S, Del Sol Si and Del Sol VTEC models.

1999 to 2000 Sixth Generation EK Honda Civic Air Intake options for Civic Si:

The EK Honda Civic Si actually took a brief hiatus, enjoying a short production life between 1998 and 2000. Introduced to the USDM for the 1999 model year, the EK Honda Civic Si was powered by the B16A2 DOHC VTEC engine. 1999 and 2000 model year Honda Civic Si coupe owners can choose from an AEM cold air intake in blue (21-417B), charcoal gray (21-417C), polished (21-417P) or red (21-417R). Also available for the 1999-2000 EK Honda Civic Si is a short ram intake option in blue (22-417B), charcoal gray (22-417C), polished (22-417P) or red (22-417R). Returning again for the sixth gen Si Honda Civic air intake is a dual chamber air intake powder-coated in charcoal gray.

Similar to the 2002-2005 Ep3 Si, the 2006-2011 FA was powered by the K-series engine, this time with 197 horsepower being produced by the K20Z3 i-VTEC DOHC I4

2002 to 2005 Seventh Generation EP3 Honda Civic Air Intake options for Civic Si:

The 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 EP3 Honda Civic Si, did not share the body style or interior with the USDM Civic. Instead, the EP3 Honda Civic Si shared its platform and power train with the base model Acura RSX. The seventh generation Civic Si discontinued the use of the popular B-series engine and adopted the K-series K20A3 engine. AEM offers Honda Civic Air Intake CAI and short ram intake options for 2002-2005 EP3 Civic Si models. The EP3 Si Honda civic cold air intake is only offered in gray (21-508C) or red (21-508R), however the EP3 Si Honda civic short ram intake has more color options. 22-508B is finished in candy blue, 22-508P uses mirror-like air intake tubes, and 22-508R comes powder-coated in candy red. Dual Chamber Air Intake technology is available for the 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 EP3 Honda Civic Si with charcoal gray AEM air intake number 24-6108C.

2006 to 2014 Eighth and Ninth Generation FA and FB Honda Civic Air Intake options for Civic Si:

The FB Honda Civic Si was introduced for 2012 and is equipped with a larger 2.4-liter K24Z7 i-VTEC DOHC I4 making more horsepower and torque than FA models

The eighth generation FA Honda Civic Si was produced from 2006 to 2011 and continued to use the K-series engine first adopted into the EP3 Si. The 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 FA Honda Civic Si was powered by a 2.0-liter K20Z3 i-VTEC DOHC I4 engine rated at 197 horsepower. 2012 and later ninth generation FB Honda Civic Si models received a larger 2.4-liter K24Z7 i-VTEC DOHC I4 which makes slightly more horsepower but makes considerably more torque than the K20Z3 engine.

2006-2011 FA Honda Civic Si owners can install the 21-685C or 21-685P AEM cold air intake system for an estimated 6.27 more horsepower over stock. An AEM short ram intake is offered for 2006 and 2007 FA Honda Civic Si models. Available in blue (22-516B), polished (22-516P), or red (22-516R) the 2006-2007 Honda Civic Si short ram intake will provide an estimated 6.6 more horsepower on an otherwise stock Honda Civic Si.

2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 FB Honda Civic Si models with the K24Z7 engine can benefit from the installation of a CAI Honda Civic Air Intake in gray (21-716C) or polished (21-716P). The Honda Civic air intake system for 2012-2014 FB Civic Si models produced an estimated 8 more horsepower without the need for further modifications.

AEM’s first glimpse of mainstream notoriety came when cars tuned by their shop won in various classes at one of the early “Battle of the Imports” races. This highly contested shoot-out and others that followed landed AEM on the cover of Turbo Magazine and Sport Compact Magazine. AEM has been a leader in the development and sale of precision tuned induction systems ever since that fateful day at the Battle of the Imports. Today, the Company’s induction systems number in the hundreds and AEM is still the one to beat. To find a Honda Civic Air Intake for your car use the search by car or truck tool on AEMIntakes.com.

Most car or truck enthusiasts picture a cold air intake system when they hear the name AEM. AEM Induction Systems has made great headway and built its reputation on cold air intakes, but since 1987 Advanced Engine Management (AEM) has been in the business of improving performance. More power is only one aspect of the driving equation. Being able to properly control engine power while cornering in the 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 Kia Forte Koup 2.4-liter is crucial to solving the performance driving formula.

When a car equipped with a McPherson Strut suspension system, like the 2010-2013 Kia Forte Koup 2.4L is being driven through a turn there is inherent flex in the strut towers and chassis. It’s not uncommon to experience as much as 1/8” of shift in the strut towers during hard cornering. This flex can result in unpredictable handling of the car. An effectively designed performance strut bar will transmit the load incurred by shifting weight between the two strut towers and reduce the effects of chassis flex.

Unfortunately, many of the aftermarket strut tower braces available have a hinged design and therefore offer little support to the strut towers. An effective performance strut bar, like those from AEM, must be rigid throughout its length. Additionally, many of the strut tower braces on the market could interfere with performance upgrades such as a cold air intake system. This is where AEM Induction Systems factors part number 29-0008 performance strut bar for the 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 Kia Forte Koup 2.4-liter into the equation.

An AEM performance strut bar is an excellent bolt on solution for strut tower flex in the 2010-2013 Kia Forte Koup 2.4L. An AEM performance strut bar is constructed using thin wall mild steel tubing for a good strength to weight ratio. They are built with a rigid design to effectively tie the two strut towers together. Best of all, AEM designed the 29-0008 performance strut bar with an AEM cold air intake system in mind. An AEM 29-0008 performance strut bar will not interfere with the AEM cold air intake system for the 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 Kia Forte Koup 2.4-liter.

The AEM performance strut bar 29-0008 is designed as a bolt on chassis upgrade for the 2010-2013 Kia Forte Koup 2.4L and includes OE quality hardware as needed. The 29-0008 performance strut bar will work with the factory intake system and is guaranteed to work with an AEM Cold Air Intake System. As with an AEM cold air intake system, an AEM performance strut bar is designed to last for the life of your vehicle. Constructed in the U.S.A with high quality mild steel, and protected with a durable gunmetal gray powdercoat finish, AEM warrants that its performance strut bar for the 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 Kia Forte Koup 2.4-liter will last for the life of your sport compact coupe.

AEM Performance Strut Bar, number 29-0008, will intensify the driving experience of the following Kia Forte Koup models:

2013 KIA FORTE KOUP 2.4L L4 F/I – All
2012 KIA FORTE KOUP 2.4L L4 F/I – All
