After clean air passes through the filter, a mandrel bent aluminum intake tube directs air into the engine. Coupling the aluminum intake tube to the throttle body is a molded bellows hose which absorbs vibration and engine flex during high-torque situations.

On the dyno, 21-8228DC and 21-8228DP produced an estimated additional 10.2 horsepower at 5,100 rpm and an equally noticeable additional 10.5 pound-feet of torque at 5,100 rpm over the factory intake system. AEM Air Intake System 21-8126DS is engineered with an oversized air box and new coolant reservoir for the 2011-14 Ford F150 EcoBoost turbo V6

The Ford Motor Company developed a line of smaller twin-turbo powered engines in the quest for more power and greater fuel efficiency. Beginning with the 2011 model year, Ford transplanted the 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 into the legendary F150 half-ton pickup truck line. This engine was previously found in front wheel drive applications such as the Ford Taurus, and Ford Explorer. The F150 was the first rear wheel drive implementation of the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. F150 power output for the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 is greatly increased over the Taurus or Explorer engines and rivals that of a V8 engine. In fact, the F150 EcoBoost is estimated to make 5 more horsepower and 40 lb-ft more torque than the renowned 5.0 V8.

On the dyno, 21-8126DS demonstrates power gains throughout the RPM range with the largest gain of an estimated 14 additional horsepower coming on at 5,800 RPM. Possibly more impressive is the new torque curve shown in dyno testing. A peak estimated torque gain of 15 pound-feet comes on at a commonly used 3,300 RPM.

In addition to simply increasing horsepower, lowering restriction and increasing airflow will also reduce turbo lag and help the Hyundai Genesis Coupe turbo to spool up quicker. This in turn improves acceleration and drivability.
