Custom Car designer and modifier John Butiu is well versed in taking OE and making it the envy of all who lay eyes on his new creations. Originally from Kennewick, Washington, Butiu now lives in Manhattan Beach, California, with one of the cleanest and unique Infiniti G35 Coupe's on the west coast.

"I've had this car as my daily driver for 7 years and decided to modify it slowly so I can enjoy it instead of getting tired of it and moving on to another car," stated Butiu. "I try to look for mods that will stand out from the rest and chose rare mods like an authentic Top Secret Carbon Fiber Hood from Japan, Authentic Kuruma front bumper, and custom one of a kind rear bumper which I helped design." "My first mods were of course, lowering springs, tint, and a nice set of 20" HRE 540R wheels, chrome lip and brushed aluminum face, which you usually find on Porsches, Lambos, and Ferraris. I wanted a set of wheels which I can enjoy and not have to buy a new set every few years."

When asked about his inspiration and how he got into customizing and designing cars, John noted his education at the Art Center College of Design, majoring in Transportation Design/Car Design. With a formal education and a love for custom cars, Butiu was able to put all available knowledge, skills and contacts into designing his Infiniti.

"The full interior color change was also put together by Chuy's Auto Interior in Carson with the help of Randy Riggs. I created a 3D model using Maya Software of the full interior so I can show the shop how I wanted it to look. I also textured and rendered it in the materials from leather, suede, and painted pieces to show the different materials, as well as indicate where all the custom double stitching would go. We used suede, perforated suede, leather, color matched parts, seat belts, and super soft Porsche carpeting/floor mats." "I also had the entire engine bay polished, chromed, holes filled, stainless steel braided hoses, as well as a full wire tuck and color matched parts as well," reported Butiu. His G35 Coupe even includes simple details like having a custom polished intake modified so that the Mass Air Flow sensor is hidden away from view to create a clean look, along with an AEM filter which was included, "because I like the idea that it is easily washable and no oiling needed."

"I also had the finishing touches of a Stoptech BBK (color matched), Tanabe Z40 coils, sways, and a complete trunk audio sound system designed by me and good friend, Randy Riggs, build by Randy, materials by Chuy's Auto Interior, audio components by Newport Auto Sound, and Font Template by stickertome.com." Butiu, a member of the R-Rydes Car Club has been seen with the 2005 G35 Coupe at these events:

Hot Import Nights (LA, Pomona, Anaheim, San Mateo, Las Vegas, AZ), Motion Auto Show (Long Beach), SpoCom (Anaheim), Extreme Autofest (San Diego), IDRC and will hopefully be going to future big shows such as Sema.

AEM- "What drew you to this specific model? Why an '05 Infiniti?

Butiu- "The clean design and flowing lines of the Infiniti G35 coupe, which will be a classic design. I have been keeping my eye on the G35 coupe (aka Skyline 350GT in Japan) since its creation in 2003 and bought one in 2005. The exterior, interior, and engine are very well put together and very tuner friendly, with hundreds of aftermarket parts to choose from."

AEM- Regarding the unique styling and look of the vehicle, why did you choose it?

Butiu- "All the lines flow as if it were drawn with simple brush strokes from front to back. The proportions of the car as well as being a 6 cylinder RWD helped as well. I love the headlights so much, I had it modified by clearcorners.com with LED's all along the clearance strip and headlights. I wanted something different from your usual sports cars out there, I wanted something that had a unique, timeless look. That's why I chose a 2005 G35 Coupe in the Lakeshore Slate color, which is rarely seen, as opposed to the red, black, silver, white, or gun metal."

It was in 1982 that Ford began equipping its Ford F-Series trucks with diesel engines. At that time Ford used the International Harvester IDI indirect injection engine and later changed to the Navistar diesels.

The indirect injection diesel engine that International developed displaced 6.9 liters and generated 170 horsepower and 315 foot-pounds of torque. The 7.3-liter Power Stroke followed in 1987, and it was never made available for F-150 models, but rather for the Super Duty trucks, including the chassis/cab F-450s with dual rear wheels. From model years 1987 to 1991, the 7.3-liter version developed 180 horsepower and 345 foot-pounds of torque. Varying configurations of this 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel with differing horsepower and torque specs were commanding the roads until the 2003 model.

Any of the F-Series Trucks listed below can benefit from replacing the existing factory installed air filter with an AEM 28-20248 Dryflow air filter. This is accomplished by combining the most successful elements of reusable air filter technology into an exclusive Dryflow media that improves air flow. Excellent engine protection can also be expected due to the depth loading characteristics implemented in the 28-20248 design. Installation is identical to the outline in your vehicle owner's manual and no modifications of any kind are required.

Plus, being that this replacement panel filter is washable and reusable, it will be the last filter you'll ever buy for your F-Series truck. Also, 28-20248 can be run for up to 50,000 miles before cleanings required, depending on driving conditions. When it is time to clean your air filter, you can simply apply AEM's synthetic cleaner to help dissolve and loosen dirt then rinse the dirt and grime away with water. Allow the filter to dry, and you're set.

With proper maintenance, the 28-20248 air filter has the potential to last longer than the vehicle you put it in. That is why AEM backs 28-20248 with a Lifetime Limited Warranty.

AEM Dryflow Synthetic Air Filter Cleaner Makes Filter Cleaning a Breeze

clear
clear
AEM Dryflow Synthetic Air Filter Cleaner
AEM Dryflow Synthetic Air Filter Cleaner
Do you hate cleaning? Do you have to spend extended periods of time just to psych up to get motivated to start? Yeah, well who doesn't? The cleaner-haters club has a huge following, so anything that makes cleaning easier, faster, more effective and less agonizing, we embrace with open arms and rubber gloves. There are of course cleaning priorities, organizing the tools in your garage comes before washing the dog, and cleaning your vehicle's reusable AEM Dryflow air filter should realistically trump both of those. Why you may ask? Because a dirty pooch or a greasy socket-set won't directly influence your bottom-line the way a grubby, airflow choking, air filter will.

If you're driving around with a really dirty air filter the overall performance of your vehicle can suffer. Not making your bed regularly is tolerable; not cleaning your air filter is unforgiveable, especially when AEM Dryflow Synthetic Air Filter Cleaner, part number 1-1000, takes most of the chore out of the procedure.

Instead of viewing it as cleaning, think of it as giving your vehicle the breath of life. AEM's spray on air filter cleaner is simply the gift that keeps on giving every time you use it. The cleaning instructions make the process easy. Begin by gently taping out the loose dirt and bugs from your filter. Next spray the AEM air filter cleaner liberally on the inside and outside of the filter, concentrating on the dirty side of the filter. Wait for 10 minutes and rinse with cool or warm water then let the filter dry naturally, or carefully use compressed air to speed things up. AEM Dryflow® Synthetic Air Filter Cleaner loosens and dissolves dirt so easily and efficiently it's downright entertaining to watch.

AEM Dryflow® Synthetic Air Filter Cleaner is specifically formulated for AEM Dryflow air filters and other synthetic air filters. Keep in mind AEM Dryflow air filters conveniently do not require oil.

From Oct 30th through November 2nd, the Las Vegas Convention Center will be transformed into the 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association's (SEMA) annual trade show. Bringing in hundreds of vendors, racers, and manufacturers showcasing the newest and hottest products, modified and stock vehicles makes this event one of the largest automotive gatherings in the world. SEMA has brought this collection of the industry's best together since the first show in 1963. Since then, the market has seen many changes and a rapid growth of different technology making vehicles faster, smarter and more powerful while balancing safety and efficiencies.

AEM Induction Systems is one such company dedicated to technological innovation in the design and engineering of performance air filter and air intake products. AEM will be attending the SEMA show at booth number 23053 showcasing newly released cold air, short ram and electronically tuned intake systems for popular years, makes and models. Best of all AEM is scheduled to unveil a custom built 2013 Scion FR-S in the booth. "We are going to show the FR-S and the complete product package AEM is designing for this vehicle." reported AEM Brand Manager George Hsieh. "The FR-S will include the high performance Electronically Tuned Intake (ETI), AEM exhaust and AEM strut bar." Mr. Hsieh went on to mention that the FR-S would also include a selection of performance parts from other aftermarket manufacturers.

"The main thing to remember when it comes to intakes is that heat is the enemy. AEM's focus is above and beyond engineering and the design of the ETI system on the FR-S incorporates that idea with a custom air box that uses a large fresh air duct and places the filter and sensor components inside, away from the hottest parts of the engine. By creating a better cold air effect you can boost overall engine performance." Other AEM ETI systems on display at the booth will include special features, like the design for the 2006-2010 Mini Cooper S which actually converts the decorative hood scoop into a functioning ram air scoop for the intake. AEM will also be displaying performance air filters for multiple vehicles from their new OE replacement line.

When asked about AEM's presence at the 2012 SEMA show, Hsieh stated that AEM is concentrating on building the brand and the AEM "family" by building better connections with dealers and customers. "We want to show everyone that AEM is a value added brand as well as our capabilities as an engineering company and the breadth of what we can accomplish using new technology and social media marketing tactics." Needless to say, booth 23053 is definitely a stop to make this year at the SEMA show.

AEM will be showing their new products and the Scion FR-S at booth 23053 in the racing and performance central hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. So save the dates and make your way to the SEMA Show October 30th through November 2nd to see all that AEM has to offer for you.
